Does it feel like you’re barely holding it all together?

Anxiety. Feeling pressure to perform. That harsh or demanding inner voice. Expectations piling up around you that you can’t ever seem to meet.

Feel like you need a break or just want to be left alone? Let’s take some of this heavy weight off your shoulders.

Therapy for teens with anxiety or depression

Life as a teen can be tough, even brutal at times, sometimes for everyone. But there comes a point where it seems to be harder more than, well… normal:

Anxiety making it hard to to go to school, speak up in class, socialize with friends

Being tired all the time and never having the energy to do the things you enjoy

Always worrying about what might happen or that thing you said yesterday… seems like the thoughts never stop

Feel like you to have to redo things over and over again to get it just right, often taking much longer to complete tasks

Often feeling sad and tearful for seemingly no reason

Thoughts of not measuring up, not being good enough, or that things never go well for you

Glued to your phone out of FOMO, even when it sparks comparison anxiety or makes it hard to focus

The things you used to love no longer seem to make you happy

If any of this has you thinking, “hey, that feels familiar,” therapy is a great step to feeling better and thriving.

Hello, I’m Jennifer Warpool, a CT-based therapist for teens

available ONLINE in CT & ny
in-person in greenwich, ct

I love working with teens. It’s a time marked by so much change, which can be exciting for some and anxiety provoking for others.

If you’re in that latter camp (lucky you!), anxiety and depression makes it even harder to deal with the already sky-high pressures that you’re facing.

You’ve got the prospect of what to do after graduating, dealing with parents, and the tangled mess of social situations (that seem easy for everyone but you). It’s a lot!

I’m here to help you quiet those worries and lighten the extra weight on your shoulders through listening to you, talking things through without judgement, and learning new ways to address problems.

What to expect with teen therapy

You, your parents or caretakers, and I talk to determine fit.

You and your parents can schedule a 15-minute consult.

It’s a no-cost period to ask me anything you want and explain a little about what’s going on with you. We will also speak about how I may be able to help and details about session structure, frequency, and costs.

We meet for private sessions, virtually or in-person

I’m better at listening than your best friend, and I don’t give orders like a doctor or teacher would either. I'm here for you and we work together to meet your goals.

I'm understanding, and want to hear your perspective, and I’ll be direct and point out what I'm seeing in a helpful way. Oh, and never, ever judgmental.

Book a complimentary 15-minute consult

This is just a quick chat to see if I’m the right fit for your needs. It can be just you, you and your parents, or just your parents. I’m excited to meet you.

What you might be wondering before calling me

  • Sessions are $250 per 50-minute session.

  • No, I am an out-of-network therapist in CT and NY. This is an intentional choice to allow for flexibility in how we work together, without the restrictions of insurance requirements.

However, I can provide you with a detailed monthly bill (called a superbill), which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

  • I draw from many modalities depending on what I think each person needs, or once we see what each person is responding to. I’m trained in the following approaches:

    • Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)

    • Art Therapy

    • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

    • Cognitive Processing (CPT)

    • Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

    • Humanistic

    • Interpersonal

    • Person-Centered

    • Positive Psychology

    • Strength-Based

    • Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • No, not typically. There are certain things that I’m required to disclose to parents by law, like concerns about self-harm or harm to others. But mostly, this time is 100% between you and me.

We will set expectations for parent involvement at the beginning, if needed, depending on your age and challenges.

  • Great question! I’ll take the lead by asking you what brings you to therapy, and then I’ll explain about my approach and next steps. You can ask me anything you want, and at the end, I’ll ask if you want to book your first session.

There are no hard feelings if you’re not sure — you can just say, “I want to think about it more,” and we’ll leave it at that. If you do want to try a session, you choose virtual or in-person and then select from my next available time slots.

  • Think of our first therapy session as an intake and assessment, but in a conversational, not clinical, way.

I’ll ask you some questions about what you’re going through, and at the end, I’ll tell you what I think our therapeutic approach should be and ask for your feedback. You will be an active participant in the process.

  • The most important thing to know is that I won’t judge you.

Secondly, I don’t sugarcoat or say, “be more positive!” and I don’t just sit there with a blank face asking you “how that made you feel.” I listen, ask questions, and help you see things differently or help think through options on what to do.

  • Yes! I have extensive experiences with all types of eating disorders, from anorexia to binge eating to ARFID. Visit my eating disorder therapy page to learn more.
