Parent coaching

When you can’t seem to say or do the right thing or your kid keeps pushing you away

Parent coaching is like getting a personalized crash course to better understand and support your daughter with her specific challenges, including eating disorders, obsessive thinking, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles or more frequent emotional distress.

You’d do anything to help your daughter.

The problem is… you don’t know exactly what to do.

Understand what’s going on beneath the surface (especially helpful if your child doesn’t want to talk about it!)

Find relief from your own anxiety about it, because you have a sounding board and expert advice

Help your daughter learn how to take a break from mindless scrolling

Know what types of interactions and interventions at home support healing

Trust that you’re doing everything you can to help your child

Protect your relationship as your daughter goes through this hard time

Hello, I’m Jennifer Warpool, an experienced therapist for teens and their parents.

In both my private practice and previous work at a residential eating disorder treatment center, I’ve helped girls, teens, and their families heal and recover from eating disorders, depression, anxiety, obsessive thinking, and much more.

Family therapy and parent coaching contribute greatly to progress and healing. This is done through creating a shared understanding, empathy and openness and increases communication, support, and family dynamics at home.

In each session, we’ll review and process how things are going. You’ll  tell me what you’re observing and feeling, and I offer support, guidance, and strategies, specifically tailored for your family.

We meet for virtual or in-person coaching sessions

You’ll have space to talk through every question, doubt, and panicked moment you’ve had about your daughter.

We will review observations, discuss the implementation of strategies and changes you are trying, and identify any helpful adjustments or tweaks.

Questions? Want to do a gut-check first? I’m all ears.

You’re not the first parent to wonder this

  • Sessions are $250 per 50-minute session.

  • No, parent coaching isn’t your personal therapy. It’s focused on helping you support your child and family during a challenging time, rather than working through any mental health issues of your own. Of course we’ll discuss how this is impacting you and how you can “put on your air mask first.”

  • No, I am an out-of-network therapist in CT and NY. This is an intentional choice to allow for flexibility in how we work together, without the restrictions of insurance requirements.

  • Yes. It’s very helpful if appropriate for your child, depending on many factors including the child's age, diagnosis, family dynamics, and more. During our initial consultation, I can confirm if it’s appropriate for you. Book a consult to get started.

  • Of course! I generally prefer when all caregivers attend coaching if feasible.

  • Great question! I’ll take the lead by asking you what led you to consider parent coaching, and then I’ll explain how it works. You can ask me anything you want, and at the end, I’ll ask if you want to book your first session.

  • The first coaching session is like an intake. The process is designed to thoroughly understand your needs and answer your biggest questions. I’ll likely ask you to share:

    • Your primary reasons for seeking coaching, including key challenges and concerns.

    • Your family history, current family dynamics, and parenting style.

    • Detailed information about your child's diagnosis and level of functioning.

  • Parent coaching is virtual or in-person at my office in Greenwich, CT.

Many parents prefer virtual sessions because they find that makes it super easy to get support without having to commute to my office.

If in-person, my office is located at:

    239 Glenville Road
    Greenwich, CT 06831

It’s inside the Greenwich Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine office, so this is the name you’ll see on the front door.

  • Yes, you must be a resident of New York State or Connecticut to do Parent Coaching with me, as those are the states I’m licensed in.
